How can you make sure your boiler and the rest of your heating is in perfect working order during the summer months? We’re going to be giving you some tips on how you can maintain your heating in summer so it’s in tip top condition and ready to approach the winter in great working order.
Turning off your boiler if possible
It’s a great idea to switch your boiler off if you can during the summer months. Of course, this could ultimately depend on how warm it is, but if you can then you could save money by doing so. This shouldn’t affect your shower if it’s electric, you should still be able to use it even when the heating has been turned off.
Combi boilers give you some advantages.
With a Combi boiler you should be able to utilise the settings so your radiators remain off while your hot water is switched on. Your house will therefore be kept nice and cool throughout the warmer months. Alternatively, you could switch your radiators off individually and just have the towel rail switched on in the bathroom, so you can keep towels warm and dry for use.
Give your heating system a little run through.
It’s a good idea to run the heating for just a few minutes each month and this helps keep the system running nicely and helps you to check it’s in working order. You want your heating system to be working well once the temperature drops in the autumn, and this will prevent it from seizing up completely.
Boiler replacement is easier in the summer.
If you’re thinking of getting your boiler replaced then now is a great time to do it. In the summer plumbers aren’t as busy, and while they're fixing your new boiler, your heating will remain off for a short time without it being too much of an issue.
Choose a boiler that will be more energy efficient.
Make sure that you choose a more modern and technologically sophisticated boiler because it’s likely that it will work far better and save you money. They’re not only more energy efficient, they're less likely to break down during the winter months when you’ll be needing it most.
